USAID Launches Updated Acquisition and Assistance Strategy

USAID

USAID is pleased to announce its updated Acquisition and Assistance (A&A) Strategy.
Since the issuance of the 2018 A&A Strategy, the Agency and development landscape have changed considerably, due to a global pandemic, a change in Administration, and other factors. By refreshing the A&A Strategy, USAID is better positioning itself to address global development and humanitarian assistance needs.
The vision of the new A&A Strategy is for USAID and its partners to achieve sustainable, inclusive, and locally-led development results through three objectives:
- A&A workforce enabled, equipped, and empowered to further USAID’s development and humanitarian mission.
- Streamlined and effective A&A integrated throughout the Agency’s development approach.
- A more diverse set of partners engaged to implement locally led development solutions.
As mentioned in USAID Administrator Power’s video, more than 85 percent of USAID’s work is implemented through contracts and grants, meaning that how the Agency designs these partnerships is important to how development results are achieved.
The A&A Strategy is a key document that helps to guide USAID’s overall partnership approach. It prioritizes the A&A workforce, investing in the Agency’s most important resources, as well as outlines the necessary tools and culture shifts needed for increased engagement to diversify USAID’s partner base.
An implementation plan with actionable steps has been developed to support each objective of the A&A Strategy. USAID looks forward to working with key stakeholders in the international development community to implement this updated strategy.
On Wednesday, March 15, at 10:00 a.m. ET, join the Agency for a public event to learn more about the A&A Strategy, Implementation Plan, and next steps. You can register for the event here.
The team has drafted an implementation plan to accompany the A&A Strategy. You can view the implementation plan here. USAID welcomes your continued feedback on the A&A Strategy implementation plan which will be updated on a rolling basis. Please email your feedback to: IndustryLiaison@usaid.gov.
