Empowerment for Development (ED) is an Ethiopian local and national nongovernmental organization founded as a result of dialogue organized by Global Leadership Academy of Germany with the Thomson Reuters Foundation. This dialogue assembled 33 global participants from media, academia, African Union, United Nations, and international and national civil society organizations from Africa, Europe, and Asia represented 25 countries and three continents to generate ideas and solutions along the theme of “Unveil the Hidden Presence: Trafficking in Women and Children.” Our mission is to empower women and children through community-centered interventions and strive for the betterment of migrants, victims of trafficking, internally displaced people (IDPs), and refugees. Our major intervention areas are gender-based violence and human rights, climate change and humanitarian emergencies, health and education, and migration and human trafficking.
